About the Project
Project Description
The Ts’uubaa-asatx First Nation is located on Vancouver Island. Their people have resided along Cowichan Lake since time immemorial and their traditional territory stretches the entire Cowichan Lake watershed. Today they reside on their Indian Reserve #1, which is approximately 97 acres and located directly west of the Town of Lake Cowichan.
The Nation is currently constructing their Community Core, which includes housing for band members, a community centre, community garden, splash park and public works building. Fire protection will be provided from a new concrete potable water reservoir.
The Nation’s goal and vision for their community is to have a central place to gather and support members through establishment health, wellness, and early education facilities.
In addition to the Community Core, the Nation has worked on establishing a waterfront that allows for community gathering and recreation.
